Heinz National Wildlife Refuge

The Heinz National Wildlife Refuge consists of an impoundment (i.e. managed wetlands) which supports herons, egrets, terns, gulls, ducks, swans and shorebirds, and meadow and wooded areas which are a home for a variety of songbirds.

There is a loop through the entire refuge of ~3 miles, on a combination of gravel road and paved/dirt/grass paths. There is also a boardwalk about ΒΌ mile from the parking lot that lets you do a much shorter loop across the impoundment and through a wooded area.

We will meet at the visitor center at 9:30AM.

Parking is limited so it is advisable to carpool if possible.
