**POSTPONED** Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa and the Full Moon

We are postponing this meet up until tomorrow night 8/20 at the same time 7:30pm. Although it is not likely to rain tonight, cloud cover at 7pm is forecasted to be at 75% and increasing over time. Tuesday night has a 0% chance of rain with 13% cloud cover decreasing over time. See you tomorrow night! Remember, the moon will rise at 8:38 on Tuesday and sunset is at 7:50. Hope you can make it!

The full moon on August 19, 2024 will be the first supermoon of the year and a seasonal blue moon. It is called the Sturgeon Moon, a traditional name that comes from the lake sturgeon that were an important food source for Native Americans in the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain region. The moon will appear larger and brighter than other full moons due to an optical illusion and because the sun will be about 50,000 miles closer to Earth. The moon will rise at 8:10pm in the southeast sky. If you have not been to the shrine before, it offers a great vantage point for lunar photography. We will meet in the upper lot at 7:30 where you can take some time to set up your gear and socialize. You may also want to climb the stairs in front of the church for a bit more elevation.  If possible, we will also try some light painting in the cemetery. This can be done by bringing a small flashlight or other light source in combination with a long exposure.
